Role: Production Planning / Industrial Engineering Manager – Ethnic Ladies Wear
Location: Dhamnod, Madhya Pradesh, approximately 70 kms from Indore
Department: Production / Planning / Industrial Engineering
Reporting To: Head of Manufacturing
Role Objective
The role will be responsible for effective production planning, Industrial Engineering, line setting, capacity utilization, productivity improvement, cost control and daily execution monitoring for ethnic ladies wear production.
The person should have strong garment manufacturing experience, especially in ethnic ladies wear, along with hands-on knowledge of the complete production process from fabric receipt to final packing and dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Control
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on order book, delivery timelines, capacity, manpower and material availability.
Ensure proper style-wise planning for cutting, embroidery, stitching, finishing, checking, packing and dispatch.
Monitor daily production achievement against plan and highlight shortfalls with clear corrective actions.
Ensure proper line feeding so that production does not get affected due to shortage of cut panels, embroidery, trims, fabric or other inputs.
Maintain production buffer as per business requirement and ensure smooth continuity of production.
Coordinate with Production, Cutting, Embroidery, Quality, Finishing and Dispatch teams for timely execution.
2. Industrial Engineering & Productivity Improvement
Apply Industrial Engineering methods to improve productivity, efficiency and output.
Prepare SAM, operation bulletin, manpower requirement, machine requirement and capacity calculation for each style.
Monitor line efficiency, operator productivity, WIP and bottleneck operations.
Identify low-performing operations and take corrective action through method improvement, operator allocation and line balancing.
Support productivity improvement through better workstation planning, style analysis and process simplification.
Track output per line, per operator and per style on a daily basis.
3. Line Setting & Line Balancing
Plan and execute line setting for new styles as per production priority.
Ensure machines, attachments, folders, manpower, operators and inputs are available before style loading.
Understand critical operations and ensure proper operator allocation based on skill level.
Minimize production loss during style changeover.
Ensure smooth movement of work from one operation to another.
Coordinate with Quality team during line setting to ensure first-time-right production.
4. Ethnic Ladies Wear Production Knowledge
Must have strong understanding of ethnic ladies wear production, including kurta, bottom, salwar, dupatta and related categories.
Should understand construction details, styling complications, critical operations, embroidery placement, finishing and quality requirements.
Should be able to identify production risks in advance and guide the team for smooth execution.
Experience in handling value-added and embroidery-based garments will be preferred.
5. Embroidery Planning & Coordination
Plan embroidery-based styles in advance to ensure embroidery does not become a bottleneck.
Coordinate with embroidery team for daily loading, output, quality and timely delivery.
Understand embroidery production flow, machine capacity, operator requirement and common embroidery-related issues.
Track embroidery WIP and ensure timely feeding to stitching lines.
Monitor embroidery output against plan and escalate delays immediately.
6. Costing, Rates & Cost Control
Should have practical understanding of garment rates, operation costing and production cost.
Review manpower deployment, productivity and output to ensure cost-effective production.
Analyze style-wise cost impact based on SAM, manpower, productivity and efficiency.
Identify areas of wastage, excess manpower, low output and process inefficiency.
Support management in rate analysis, cost optimization and productivity-based planning.
7. Process Knowledge – Fabric to Pack
Ensure complete process control from fabric receipt to final packing and dispatch.
Coordinate across Fabric, Cutting, Embroidery, Stitching, Finishing, Quality, Packing and Dispatch.
Track issues related to fabric, trims, cutting, quality, alteration, shortage and rework.
Ensure timely movement of material between departments.
Drive process discipline and ensure that delays are identified and resolved on time.
8. Daily Dashboard, Analytics & Reporting
Prepare and publish daily production dashboards covering plan vs actual, efficiency, output, WIP, bottlenecks, shortfall and corrective actions.
Analyze daily production data and provide clear insights to management.
Track key metrics such as line output, efficiency, absenteeism impact, manpower utilization, cutting status, embroidery status, finishing status and dispatch readiness.
Ensure all reports are accurate, timely and action-oriented.
Highlight risks in advance and follow up with concerned teams for closure.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong experience in garment production planning.
Industrial Engineering background is essential.
Hands-on knowledge of line setting, line balancing and productivity improvement.
Strong understanding of ethnic ladies wear manufacturing.
Good knowledge of embroidery production process.
Understanding of garment rates, costing and production cost control.
Strong Excel, dashboard and data analytics skills.
Good coordination skills with Production, Quality, Fabric, Cutting, Embroidery, Finishing and Dispatch teams.
Strong follow-up, execution and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work on the shop floor and drive results through daily monitoring.
Qualification & Experience
Diploma / Degree in Garment Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Textile Technology, Apparel Production or related field.
8–12 years of experience in garment manufacturing.
Experience in production planning, Industrial Engineering and line setting is essential.
Experience in ethnic ladies wear production will be strongly preferred.
Experience in embroidery-based garment production will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on garment professional with strong Industrial Engineering and production planning experience. The person should be comfortable working on the factory floor, analyzing daily production data, setting lines, identifying bottlenecks and driving execution with the production team.
The candidate must have the ability to convert plans into actual output and should be strong in follow-up, coordination, analytics and problem-solving. Experience in ethnic ladies wear and embroidery-based production will be highly preferred.
