
Job Description – MIG Quality Engineer (PDI & Process Quality)
Position Title: MIG Quality Engineer
Department: Quality
Location: Ahmedabad / Jalisana
Experience: 8–10 Years
Industry Preference: Automotive (Chassis / Axle / BIW / Welding)
Reporting To: Quality Manager / Quality Head
To ensure robust process quality and Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI) of MIG welding components, ensuring zero-defect delivery to customers and adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor and control MIG welding process parameters.
- Implement and sustain process control plans (PCP) and PFMEA.
- Conduct in-process inspections.
- Implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
- Ensure 100% compliance of PDI before dispatch.
- Develop and maintain PDI checklists.
- Ensure defect-free dispatch.
- Monitor inspection trends and reduce complaints.
- Maintain traceability and inspection records.
- Handle customer complaints and warranty issues.
- Lead 8D problem-solving activities.
- Ensure compliance with OEM standards.
- Participate in customer audits.
- Maintain Control Plans, PFMEA, inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 / ISO standards.
- Support audits.
- Drive Kaizen and Poka-Yoke implementation.
- Reduce rejection and rework.
- Improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and PPC.
- Guide quality inspectors.
- Train operators on quality standards.
- Strong knowledge of MIG welding processes & defects
- Expertise in PDI systems
- Knowledge of quality tools (7 QC tools, 8D, SPC, MSA)
- Familiarity with OEM standards
- Strong analytical skills
B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering
