Process Safety Lead

Purpose of Role:

To lead and drive Process Safety Management (PSM) excellence across Pharma API and Specialty Chemical manufacturing operations by implementing CCPS Risk-Based Process Safety (RBPS) framework, strengthening process safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and preventing major accident hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead implementation and continuous improvement of CCPS Risk-Based Process Safety (RBPS) elements across manufacturing sites.
• Develop and execute Process Safety roadmap aligned with organizational risk management objectives.
• Conduct and facilitate HAZOP, What-if, LOPA, SIL assessments, QRA, PSSR, and other Process Hazard analysis.
• Establish robust Management of Change (MOC), Mechanical Integrity, Asset Integrity, and Process Safety Information systems.
• Drive process safety culture transformation through leadership engagement, workforce involvement, behavioural interventions, and learning programs.
• Develop leading and lagging Process Safety KPIs and monitor organizational performance against established targets.
• Lead investigation of process safety incidents, near misses, fires, explosions, and loss of containment events; ensure effective root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
• Strengthen emergency preparedness, consequence management, and major accident prevention systems.
• Ensure compliance with MSIHC Rules, Factories Act, PESO requirements, environmental regulations, and global best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to Operations, Engineering, Projects, and EHS teams for safe design, operation, and scale-up of chemical processes.

Lead quarterly Process Safety Management Reviews with Senior Leadership, providing insights on leading and lagging Process Safety indicators, Major Accident Hazard controls, critical risk management effectiveness, RBPS maturity progress, significant incidents and learnings, compliance status, and resource requirements to support informed decision-making and continuous risk reduction

Experience:

• 12–18 years of experience in Process Safety, Process Engineering, Operations, Technical Services, or EHS within Pharma API, Specialty Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Fine Chemicals, or Chemical Manufacturing industries.
• Minimum 5–8 years of dedicated experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Major Accident Hazard (MAH) risk management.
• Demonstrated experience in implementation of CCPS Risk-Based Process Safety (RBPS) framework and development of Process Safety Management systems. Hands-on expertise in HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessment, QRA, MOC, PSSR, Incident Investigation, Bow-Tie Analysis, and Consequence Modelling.
